This and That

Whew! That last post was quite a ride. I'm going to be so sad now when my comments section doesn't top 40. I was thinking today we could talk about the financial bail-out. Um . . . as they say in cyber world, j/k. I.e., I'm totally kidding. I don't want to talk about the financial bail-out, because I have very little understanding about it and even less of an opinion. You should, however, feel free to discuss it amongst yourselves.

Also, I'd like to address another very important topic from the comments section on the last post. Yes, I am using a rotary phone at this time. Our cordless is on the brink. It doesn't charge even on the receiver, so it often dies mid-conversation. And for quite some time now, I haven't been able to dial any phone number with a 4 in it. (Lori, not that you would notice, but this is why I always call you from my cell phone). About the rotary, which came out from under the bed until we finally remember to add "phone" to the shopping list, it sits right beside me at the desk and is extremely loud. So if I sound a little testy when I answer the phone, it's not you. It's that my eardrum has just been punctured by the loudest annoying sound in the world.

Now, how sweet is this? (The object of the picture above). My name, believe me, has ended up on several things way less flattering than this little blue-green bit of wonderful. So when I see it on things like this, I'm so happy.

Now, technically I only actually drink tea when I get a painful chest cold. And even then, it's more that it seems like the perfect thing to do than that I have actually developed a taste for it. Nikki knows this about me, but she knew I would love this anyway. And she was so right. It's adorable. It's the most calming color, and it's a symbol of how very cool it is to have friends who like you enough to think about you when they're in a store and find beautiful things.

Although it's supposed to hold a dripping tea bag (maybe I will start drinking tea, just so I can use this!), I use it more like a stress reliever. I just look at it, tap that lovely color and familiar word with my fingers, and wah-lah, sereni-tea now.

Sereni-tea! Love it. I drink tea...I used to drink tea when I had time to microwave things for myself for breakfast...I think I need something like this to tap and smile at...Yes, I definitely need something like this... : )

Serenity, You definitely are good with words. With this post you've given me the impression you may not want comments or different perspectives; therefore would rather write and share with a smaller, limited audience. If this is so, that is fine. Please know, there is no disrespect here; instead it is because of my deep respect for you that I ask for clarification, so that I do not speak where uninvited and then offend. So, have I understood correctly? Friend

No, Friend, you definitely misunderstand. That last post generated many, many more comments than normal through no strategy of my own. And most of my posts generate much fewer comments, also through no specific strategy. I like to write serious posts and lighter ones. I like to write about Hollywood and news stories if they happen to be what I was thinking most about that day. But more often, I write about very, very small happenings in my life - like whether or not my son will stay in the toddler bed at night and beautiful gifts from friends - but always in the hope that anyone who reads it will be able to relate, will somehow enjoy at least a bit of what I wrote, will perhaps be awakened to their own small, wonderful things, and will feel extremely free to remind me that they are there and have many thoughts of their own.

Also, addressing specific people in my posts is just something I like to do to further personalize my writing. It's not meant to exclude or even to seriously limit the sentence to only one person. I often do it with Felic or Mom because we share so many personal memories that often tie in to what I'm saying, to Lori because she's a dear friend who always reads but never comments and I like to give her a shout out, and to Sarah Dunn because she never ever comments unless thoroughly provoked. It's just a fun embellishment, I think, to narrative writing.

I love that Seren! I think I want one. I dont mind if it doesnt say Tiff-a tea.
I love the color, and its cute. Small little happy things, I could live on those for years.
Say, chamomile tea is quite tasty while watching evening TV, no caffeine and it really is supposed to help with sleep, the little bear in the night shirt and cap says so.
Safe post? FANTASTIC post I say.
luv
Tiff - a - tea

Serenity,

I left that first comment about a safe post. I'm concerned I may have caused some pain there, which was not my intention. If I did, please forgive me. After the activity of your last post, I had wondered how you would follow-up, and thought today's was a nice job. I meant to communicate relief, that you were okay. I should have included a smiley face. Also, sorry to anyone else reading my comment who might have interpreted it that way. I am a Serenity supporter, through and through.

I like tea and when Matt stops working (my turn to support the family) we'll be able to have tea together at nights again!

(Just doing my part to help Serenity reach 40 posts...)

I love tea. MY favorite kind is Sereni-tea. No provoking here:) I was however dying to comment on your last post. You know me, I love politics. After reading Felic's post, I decided to follow my wise, wonderful, friend's advice. Gosh, I miss you both so much!

I KNEW I could get Sarah to post! And I wondered if you were listening in on that last one.

And, Tracy, no pain here.

I like my tea with ice; my glass currently has almost a dozen cubes, in fact. But I love your little tea pot, and I totally love all that it represents. I have some little things tucked around the house in various places for exactly the same effect. One of them is a bottle of sand stolen from a Florida beach by a honeymoon couple who shall remain nameless. It is a constant reminder to me that dreams really do come true.

I really enjoyed this post. And thanks for explaining the rotary dial phone. I thought about sending you a phone...

I had no idea that you had posted about my gift! haha...I loved that I found that for you. It reminded me of you, and I just had to get it. I suppose talking to you always brings sereni-tea to my life :)

I am sure I could find one that says Felici-tea as well :D

Love ya, friend!
